Any outstanding trophies which
have not been returned will be replaced and the costs will
be charged to the parent/guardian of the swimmer concerned.

Thank you to all the clubs who supported our meet, we hope
you enjoyed the day in Sheffield and had a safe journey home.
Next years gala will be on Saturday 5th September 2009, it
is our 25th year, so watch for the announcement early in the
new year.

The National Youth Championships
The National Youth Championships completed this year's National
Competition.
James Searles swam in the 50m free, finishing 48th and
in the 100m free finishing 79th.
James also swam in three Nova boys relay
teams and was joined by Ben Dixon in the 100m and 200m free
relays.
So a very successful season comes to
an end.
We hope everyone has a good summer and we
look forward to seeing many of you at Dolphins Open
Meet at Ponds Forge on 30th Aug.
National Bagcats Championships - Ponds Forge
Five young Dolphin Swimmers have just finishing competing
in this year's National Bagcats Championship held at Ponds
Forge.
Matthew Renshaw and Connor Allison both swam
in the 800m Free, finishing 13th and 17th in the 12 year age
group.
Matthew Dobson swam in the 1500m Free
and 800m Free finishing 16th and 24th in
the 13 year age group.
Matthew Watkinson swam in the 400m IM,
100m Back, 800m Free, 200m Back and 400m Free finishing 9th,
14th, 10th, 5th and 14th. In the 13 year age group he was placed overall
the 8th best performing 13 year old at the Championships.
Ian Wrigley joined Matthew Watkinson to
swim in Nova's Medley relay team who
finished 7th overall.
So the Bagcat Championships were very
successful for Dolphins swimmers, well done to everyone.

Coach
Julie Searles has taken over from
Steve Mitchell as Head Coach.
Nationals - ASA Championships
Dolphins first swimmer to take part in this year's Nationals
was Jamie Evans who has just competed in the ASA Championships
held at Liverpool. This was also the last time our Olympic
swimmers will compete before Bejing.
Jamie swam in 3 events, 400 IM, 200
fly and 200 IM.
He finished 12th, 15th and 17th respectively;
very respectable in view of the competition!
This brings to a close Jamie's first season representing
Stirling University.

Midland BagCat Championships
Again 11 Dolphin swimmers competed at Coventry in the second
weekend of the championships.
This time there were 29 individual swims
with 26 Personal Best times.
Another two swimmers achieved National Qualifying times, Connor
Allison and Matthew Renshaw both in the 800 Free. This takes
the number of Dolphin swimmers who will be competing in individual
events at the Nationals to 7 (is this a record?)
The following PB's were achieved
Matthew Watkinson - 800 Free, 400 IM, 200
Free and 100 Back.
Matthew Dobson - 800 Free, 200 Free
and 100 Back.
Connor Allison - 800 Free, 200 Free and 100
Back.

At the end of the Championships the overall
top swimmer in each age group is calculatedby using Bagcat points.

Midlands BagCat Championships
Eleven Dolphins swimmers took part in the
first part of this year's Midlands Bagcat Championships.
They competed in 40 individual events and achieved 32 PB's.
Matthew Dobson became the fifth Dolphin Swimmer to achieve a
National Qualifying time in the 1500 freestyle.
He will join Jamie Evans, Rachel Lefley, James Searles and Matthew
Watkinson who have already booked their places in this year's
National Championships.
Below is a list of the Long Course PBs that
were achieved.
Kieron Lee-Simcox - 200 Free and 100 Back.
James Davies - 200 Free.
Alex Hunter - 200 Back and 200 IM.
Connor Allison - 200 Back, 400 Free, 1500, Free 200 IM and 100

Derventio Xcel Open Meet at Derby
Seven Dolphins swimmers, Rachel Lefley, Lizzie
Walus, Megan Berridge, James Searles, Ben Dixon, Liam Jordan
and Matthew Watkinson have just competed in the Derventio Xcel
Open Meet at Derby.
This was an important Meet, as for the older
swimmers it was the last chance to compete before those with
qualifying times go on to swim in this year's National Championships.
For the younger swimmers it is a chance to see how they are
swimming before the Midland District galas at Coventry.
The swimmers took part in 26 events and achieved 17
personal best times, which is a very positive result.
Swimmers achieving PB's were as follows:
James Searles - 100 Free.
Ben Dixon - 200 Free, 50 Fly and 100 Fly.
Matthew Watkinson - 100 Free,200 Free, 50
Back,100 Back and 400 IM.
Lizzie Walus - 50 Fly, 100 Fly, 200 Fly,
100 Free and 100 Back.
Megan Berridge - 200 IM and 100 Breast.

Eckington Open Meet
Under the watchful eyes of Lisa Dixon and
Cheryl Turner a large number of Dolphins swimmers recently
competed in an Open Meet at Eckington.
The weather was beautiful and a good
day was had by all, with many of our swimmers
achieving personal best times.
Dolphins finished second overall to the home club Eckington,
with Leanna Turner and
Lucy Parkin sharing the joint, top girl award.

Midlands Youth Championships
Five Dolphin swimmers have recently swum
in the Midlands Youth Championships. To compete in this event
the swimmers have to achieve a qualifying time for the event in
the last 6 months.
The swimmers were Rachel Lefley, Lucy Parkin,
James Searles, Ben Dixon and Liam Jordan.
Rachel won the 18years and over 50 metres back, 100 metres
back and 100 metres free.
James won the 17-18years 50 metres free and came 3rd
in the 100 metres free.
Ben and James also swam for the Nova relay teams at
100metres and 200metres free and both teams look as if they
will compete at the National Youth Championships in August.
