Derventio Xcel Open Meet at Derby
Seven Dolphins swimmers, Rachel Lefley, Lizzie Walus, Megan Berridge, James Searles, Ben Dixon, Liam Jordan and Matthew Watkinson have just competed in the Derventio Xcel Open Meet at Derby.
This was an important Meet, as for the older swimmers it was the last chance to compete before those with qualifying times go on to swim in this year's National Championships. For the younger swimmers it is a chance to see how they are swimming before the Midland District galas at Coventry.
The swimmers took part in 26 events and achieved 17 personal best times, which is a very positive result.
Swimmers achieving PB's were as follows:
James Searles - 100 Free.
Ben Dixon - 200 Free, 50 Fly and 100 Fly.
Matthew Watkinson - 100 Free,200 Free, 50 Back,100 Back and 400 IM.
Lizzie Walus - 50 Fly, 100 Fly, 200 Fly, 100 Free and 100 Back.
Megan Berridge - 200 IM and 100 Breast.

Eckington Open Meet
Under the watchful eyes of Lisa Dixon and Cheryl Turner a large number of Dolphins swimmers recently competed in an Open Meet at Eckington.
The weather was beautiful and a good day was had by all, with many of our swimmers achieving personal best times.
Dolphins finished second overall to the home club Eckington, with Leanna Turner and Lucy Parkin sharing the joint, top girl award.

Midlands Youth Championships
Five Dolphin swimmers have recently swum in the Midlands Youth Championships. To compete in this event the swimmers have to achieve a qualifying time for the event in the last 6 months.
The swimmers were Rachel Lefley, Lucy Parkin, James Searles, Ben Dixon and Liam Jordan.
Rachel won the 18years and over 50 metres back, 100 metres back and 100 metres free.
James won the 17-18years 50 metres free and came 3rd in the 100 metres free.
Ben and James also swam for the Nova relay teams at 100metres and 200metres free and both teams look as if they will compete at the National Youth Championships in August.
New Sports Centre Open
The new sports centre is now open and training recommenced on 9th January in the new pool.
Swimmers need a £1 coin for a locker as they are not permitted to take their belongings onto the poolside.
